The venture began when Geminiano Dones purchased a parcel of land on Brgy. Ibabang Sungi Street in Liliw. He began to develop his dream with his daughter Noemi (who is an agriculturist) by his side. The two of them planted various fruits, such as Bananas, Durian, Guava, as well as seasonal vegetables like Pechay and Taro. Mr. Dones liked the place so much that he built a modern "Kubo" where he would frequently go to read the "Bible", and other religious books. It became a place of comfort and relaxation for him, a place to seek solace, rest his mind and enjoy quite time with God. This small plantation of joy began to rise up from the earth. Sadly, in 2015, Mr. Dones passed away. Without him being there to insure it was properly cared for, the life of the plantation began to dim. But all that changed in September 2021 when another one of Mr. Dones' daughters, Raquel who happens to be an Architect visited the plantation and immediately had the desire to rekindle the love and care that her father had for this wonderful place. She wanted to develop a campsite on the property because of her love of hiking and camping. With this new found vision for her dad's place of refuge she went to work with a new renovation plan. The Kubo was modernized with a new indoor kitchen as well as an outdoor kitchen and a fully functional comfort room. A treehouse was added just outside the main house which provided a fun filled place to enjoy. The grounds underwent a major overhaul with more garden beds and flowers.
At first the family used the property as a rest house and also welcomed their church family to come for activities such as team building, camping, movie or food night, etc. Raquel asked her mother, Ms. Zenaida Dones if they could open the place to the public so they too could share the feeling of relief and relaxation that the place is giving off. Ms. Dones eagerly agreed. Raquel then installed four outdoor comfort rooms and a large firepit for the enjoyment of those that choose to use the campsite. A basketball court was then added for the youth to exhaust their overflowing energy. The family wanted to use the name "Don Vegaz" to remember their grandfather's business which was known for his famous Tsinelas export name from 1965 to 1984. The Don Vegaz name was derived from the combination of the owner's grandfather's family name, starting with the family's surname Dones (Don), following with the family members initials; Vicente (father), Emilia (only daughter), Geminiano (oldest son), Angeles (mother) and Zosimo (youngest son).
Established in May 2022 and known today as "Don Vegaz Campsite and Garden" was dedicated to Mr Geminiano Dones.
The campsite can accommodate up to 250 people.
